roadmapThe road map for LoadRunner and Performance Center 12 and beyond was presented at HP Discover in Barcelona. Take a look at the What’s new in LoadRunner and Performance Center 11.52 from HP Discover article for a link to the full presentation.

Key points for LR & PC 12 (due sometime around March 2014):

  • Cloud Bursting – This was the major announcement. This gives the ability to run Load Generators on the Amazon and HP clouds. The deployment is fully automated and controlled by LR/PC. It is very neat and tidy implementation. One additional benefit is that HP has re-engineered the Load Generator communication protocols to use standard web ports so apparently the MI Listener will no longer be required in firewall situations
  • Better Continuous Delivery support – A new REST API to allow LR/PC to connect to Continuous Integration solutions
  • Better scripting support in native IDEs (VS and Eclipse)
  • Better support for Jenkins
  • Better Performance Application Lifecycle (PAL) support, now including Google Analytics
  • Test Express option in PC to allow the quick setup of ad-hoc tests
  • More protocol support (SPDY, Navigation Timing, HTML5)
  • Better integration with other HP products including a new UI with mobile support (useful for night-time testing)

Key points for planned LR & PC enhancements (no ETA given):

  • Potentially moving away from C to languages like Ruby and Python
  • New ‘lite’ user interface that will work on most browsers
  • More advanced PAL (HP are really pushing this!)
  • Greatly enhanced analysis capabilities
