Assuring Software Quality and Performance

Green Hat (now known as IBM Rational)

In January 2012 IBM acquired the Green Hat tool set, the products have been rebranded as

follows:

Green Hat Tester is now IBM Rational Test Workbench

Green Hat Performance Tester is now IBM Rational Performance Test Server

Green Hat VIE (Virtual Integration Environment) is now IBM Rational Test Virtualization Server

In our view these are simply the best set of tools on the market for testing complex,

SOA based systems. Partnering with IBM enables StarBase to offer robust, proven testing

solutions in this demanding systems environment.

IBM Rational makes automated testing simple for complex systems relying on Web Services,

messaging, SOA (Service Orientated Architecture), ESB (Enterprise Systems Bus), BPM

(Business Process Management), CEP (Complex Event Processing), governance and virtual

systems.

The IBM Rational range of software testing solutions for SOA and integration projects addresses

the need for testing software where there is no GUI interface and the system is expecting

requests from other systems. The volume of such requests can be enormous, making

traditional testing techniques less practical. IBM Rational's simulation capabilities overcome the

challenges of this type of environment.

IBM Rational Test Workbench (formerly GH Tester) offers a friendly user interface for the code-

free definition and execution of automated functional tests for integration, SOA and BPM

projects utilising a variety of web services and messaging technologies. Rich support is offered

for many of the SOA platform solutions adopted by larger organisations. The tool includes the

functional aspects of simulation to allow users to stub out systems during testing.

IBM Rational Performance Test Server (formerly GH Performance) fits seamlessly into the

Rational Workbench to meet every performance testing need for integration projects. Functional

tests can be re-used as part of a performance test. They can be data driven. They can also be

used in any combination to simulate realistic production transaction mixes. GH VIE (now IBM

Rational Test Virtualization Server) can be used to stub out any systems unsuitable or

unavailable for performance testing.

IBM Rational Test Virtualization Server (formerly GH VIE) can be used separately to provide

production volume simulations of systems for you or your clients and partners. Intelligent stubs

can be built quickly from the interface definition of the system for a wide variety of protocols,

including HTTP, web services, SOA, JMS, TIBCO, IBM WebSphere MQ, Oracle and many

more.
