IBM Rational Test Virtualization Server (formerly Green Hat VIE)
IBM Rational Test Virtualization Server (formerly Green Hat Virtualisation Integration
Environment) removes dependencies on third party applications and systems that may delay
your project; stops you wasting money on access fees, licences & equipment for end-to-end
testing and allows you to run what-if scenarios during performance testing.
The tool allows you to create understandable, virtualised applications without relying on teams
of developers for coding. You can choose between editions, depending upon the complexity of
your test requirements and environment.
It eliminates the need for the historic approach involving developer created "stubs".
Now testers can be in control with codeless virtualised applications, which can be readily
shared and easily updated as underlying systems and data change. This can be used
in multiple scenarios. The use of virtualised applications is not restricted to tests executed
by this tool: Manual testers and developers can also get the full benefit of the tool as it can run
stand alone in any testing scenario or any development environment.
Rational Test Virtualization Server is part of the Rational Integration Test suite (formerly
GH Tester suite), not another “product”, so when Rational Test Workbench (formerly GH
Tester) starts a test, it can automatically start the necessary virtualised applications to go with
it, ensuring that unresolved system dependencies can be satisfied. The user is in control
of which virtualised applications are used, allowing a wide variety of different situations to be
modelled, depending on the testing scenario. Rational Test Virtualisation Server is seamlessly
integrated into Rational Test Workbench, with flexible, cost-effective pricing.
Rational Test Virtualization Server is available in two Editions, each suited to particular testing
needs. Essentials is included with every copy of Rational Integration Tester, whilst Advantage is
an additional product that seamlessly integrates with Rational Test Workbench and allows for
more advanced demands such as remote execution, virtualisation of databases and Cloud support.
